So far, you've learned how to open the bidding and how to respond. But that's just the first exchange. The next bids from the opener and responder are where you refine the contract and decide how high to go.

After the response, it's the opener's turn again. This second bid, called the 'rebid', has two main goals: to show the hand's strength more precisely (minimum, medium, or strong) and to clarify its shape (balanced, unbalanced, or with a fit for partner's suit).
