In astrology, the natal chart is a 360-degree wheel divided into twelve segments called houses. While the planets and signs describe 'what' and 'how', the houses describe 'where' these energies play out in your life. Each house represents a specific area of experience.

The structure of the houses is built upon four key points called the angles. These are the most sensitive and personal points in the chart, marking the cusps, or starting points, of the 1st, 4th, 7th, and 10th houses. Let's look at each one.

The first angle is the Ascendant, often abbreviated as A C. It marks the eastern horizon at the moment of birth and is the starting point of the 1st house. The Ascendant represents your persona, your physical appearance, and the 'mask' you show to the world.

Opposite the Ascendant is the Descendant, or D C. This angle marks the western horizon and is the cusp of the 7th house. It represents significant one-to-one relationships, including marriage, business partnerships, and even open enemies.
