Lesson#1
In this deck, you will learn to use indefinite pronouns and quantifiers in spoken Brazilian Portuguese. These words let you refer to people, things, and quantities without naming them specifically, from saying someone or nothing to expressing every, few, or several.
Lesson#2
To refer to an unspecified person, use 'alguém' for 'someone' or 'anyone'. If no one is involved, use 'ninguém' for 'no one' or 'nobody'. When 'ninguém' begins a sentence before the verb, it stands alone, as in 'Ninguém sabe a resposta', meaning 'Nobody knows the answer'.
Quiz#3
How do you say 'someone' in Portuguese?

alguém

Quiz#4
Translate into Portuguese: 'Nobody knows the answer.'

Ninguém sabe a resposta

Quiz#5
Translate into Portuguese: 'Did someone call?'

Alguém ligou?

Lesson#6
In spoken Brazilian Portuguese, when a negative word like 'ninguém' comes after the verb, you must also keep 'não' before the verb. This double negation is standard speech. For example, 'Não vi ninguém na rua' means 'I did not see anyone on the street'.
