Lesson#1
When you want to talk about abstract ideas, situations, or things you can't name, you can't use the normal masculine or feminine words. Instead, Spanish uses neutral demonstrative pronouns: 'esto', 'eso', and 'aquello'.
Lesson#2
Use 'esto' to refer to something close to you, or an idea that has just been mentioned. For example, if you are holding something you don't recognise, you can ask '¿Qué es esto?' meaning 'What is this?'.

Lesson#4
Use 'eso' to refer to something a bit further away, or a situation that has been described. If a friend tells you some bad news, you could say 'Eso no me gusta', meaning 'I don't like that'.

Your friend just told you about a difficult situation. How would you say 'I don't like that' in Spanish, referring to the situation?

Eso no me gusta.

Lesson#6
'Aquello' refers to things that are far away in either time or space. You might use it to talk about 'that event from long ago' or 'that thing way over there'.
