Both tenses are formed using the verb 'haber' plus another verb form called a past participle.

First, let's look at the present perfect tense. In English, this is when we say things like 'I have eaten' or 'she has decided'. It's used for actions that happened in the recent past and are often still relevant to the present. To form it in Spanish, you use the present tense of the verb 'haber' followed by a past participle.
