In this deck, you will learn to use Swedish particle verbs in the past tenses, from what you did earlier today to what you have completed. You will also master colourful conversational particles, reflexive particle verbs, and where to place pronouns in spoken sentences.
Lesson#2
When inflecting particle verbs into the past, only the verb changes its ending, while the particle remains untouched and keeps the strongest stress. For the verb stänga av, meaning to switch off, the simple past is stängde av and the present perfect is har stängt av. For example, Han stängde av radion means He turned off the radio.

The verb sätta på means to turn on or switch on. In the simple past it becomes satte på, and in the present perfect it is har satt på. For example, Han satte på kaffet means He turned on the coffee.
