In Russian, you do not use a verb like 'to have' to show ownership. Instead, you say that something exists near or by a person, using the preposition 'У' followed by that person in the genitive case. In this deck, you will learn to express what you and others have using this spoken pattern.
Lesson#2
To say 'I have', combine the preposition 'У' with the pronoun 'меня', followed by 'есть', which means 'there is'. The item you possess follows in the basic nominative form. For example, 'У меня есть билет' means 'I have a ticket', and 'У меня есть машина' means 'I have a car'.
