In Brazilian Portuguese, talking about future plans is straightforward. Instead of using complicated verb endings, everyday speech uses the present tense of ir followed by the infinitive of the main verb. This construction works just like saying going to in English.

To express what you are going to do yourself, combine eu vou with an infinitive. For instance, Eu vou falar means I am going to speak. To say I am going to study tomorrow, say Eu vou estudar amanhã.

When talking about someone else, pair você, ele, or ela with the verb form vai and an infinitive. For example, Você vai comer means you are going to eat, and Ela vai abrir means she is going to open. To say she is going to buy a car, say Ela vai comprar um carro.
