Lesson#1
Most Russian verbs form the past tense using regular endings, but a few essential verbs have irregular stems or shifting stress. In this deck, you will learn the past forms of five key verbs: to be, to live, can, to eat, and to go on foot.
Lesson#2
The verb 'быть' means 'to be'. For a masculine subject in the past tense, use 'был'. For example, 'Я был дома' means 'I was at home'.
Quiz#3
Speaking as a man, translate into Russian: 'I was at home.'

For a feminine subject, the past form of 'быть' is 'была'. Notice that the stress shifts to the final vowel: 'была'. For example, 'Анна была на работе' means 'Anna was at work'.
