Lesson#1
In French, some verbs are followed by the preposition 'à' and then a person. For example, 'Je parle à Marie' means 'I am speaking to Marie'. To avoid repetition and make speech more fluid, we can replace 'à' plus the person's name with a single, short pronoun.
Lesson#2
These are called indirect object pronouns. The first two are 'me', which means 'to me', and 'te', which means 'to you' when speaking to a friend. They are placed directly before the verb. For instance, 'Il me parle' means 'He is speaking to me'.
Quiz#3
Translate into French: 'He is speaking to me.'

Il me parle.

Quiz#4
Translate into French, speaking to a friend: 'I am giving you the book.'

Je te donne le livre.

Lesson#5
Next are 'nous', meaning 'to us', and 'vous', meaning 'to you' when speaking formally or to a group. The placement is the same: before the verb. For example, 'Elle nous téléphone' means 'She is calling us'.
Quiz#6
Translate into French: 'She is calling us.'

Elle nous téléphone.
