The verb 'zijn' means to be. To say 'I am', use 'ik ben'. You can state your name, as in 'Ik ben Mark', which means 'I am Mark'. The Dutch word for tired is 'moe', so 'Ik ben moe' means 'I am tired'.

When talking to a friend, 'you are' is 'jij bent', or the unstressed form 'je bent'. The word for here is 'hier', so 'Je bent hier' means 'You are here'. In questions, the verb moves to the front and drops the final T, giving 'ben je'. The word for ready is 'klaar', so 'Ben je klaar?' means 'Are you ready?'.
