A candid photograph of two people engaged in a lively conversation at an outdoor cafe in Paris, one person with a slightly thoughtful, engaged expression, leaning in as if trying to catch a word, the other person speaking animatedly. The background shows blurred Parisian street life and historic architecture under warm, soft sunlight, composed for a 3:2 landscape frame.

Lesson#1
In this deck, we'll build on the basic French imperative you already know. You'll learn how to give instructions using reflexive verbs and how to include object pronouns like 'it', 'him', or 'her' in your commands.
Lesson#2
Let's start with reflexive verbs. To tell someone to do something to themselves, like 'get up', you use the imperative form of the verb followed by a hyphen and a stressed pronoun. For 'you' informal, this is 'toi'. For example, 'Lève-toi' means 'Get up'.
Quiz#3
Translate into French: 'Get up!'

Lève-toi

Quiz#4
How do you say 'Hurry up!' to a friend in French?

Dépêche-toi

Quiz#5
Translate into French: 'Sit down!'

Assieds-toi

Lesson#6
For negative commands with reflexive verbs, the structure changes. The reflexive pronoun comes before the verb, and the whole thing is wrapped in 'ne... pas'. For example, to say 'Don't go to bed too late', you would say 'Ne te couche pas trop tard'.
