Lesson#1
In Portuguese, many common verbs require a specific preposition to connect to a person, an object, or an action. In this deck, you will learn the prepositions naturally used with everyday verbs in spoken Brazilian Portuguese, as well as a couple of verbs that take direct objects without any preposition at all.
Lesson#2
The verbs 'gostar', meaning to like, and 'precisar', meaning to need, both take the preposition 'de'. When followed by a noun, 'precisar' always uses 'de'. For example, 'Eu preciso de ajuda' means 'I need help', and 'Eu gosto de música' means 'I like music'.
Quiz#3
Translate into Portuguese: 'I need help.'

Eu preciso de ajuda

Quiz#4
Translate into Portuguese: 'We need more information.'

Nós precisamos de mais informações

Lesson#5
The verbs 'depender', meaning to depend, and 'participar', meaning to participate or take part, also govern the preposition 'de'. In speech, 'de' combines with articles to form 'do' or 'da'. For instance, 'Isso depende do tempo' means 'That depends on the weather'.
Quiz#6
Translate into Portuguese: 'That depends on the weather.'

Isso depende do tempo
