To point things out in Italian, you use demonstratives, similar to 'this' and 'that' in English. For things that are close to you, you use 'questo' for masculine nouns and 'questa' for feminine nouns.
Lesson#2
For example, 'il tavolo' is a masculine noun for 'the table'. To say 'this table', you would say 'questo tavolo'. For the feminine noun 'la sedia', meaning 'the chair', you would say 'questa sedia'.
