To form the imperfect subjunctive, begin with the form used for “they” in the preterite. For example, the preterite form of “hablar” is “hablaron”. Remove “ron” from “hablaron” to produce the stem “habla”. You can then build the imperfect subjunctive from this stem.
Lesson#4
We will begin with the common form of the imperfect subjunctive. With “hablar”, the forms are “yo hablara”, “tú hablaras”, “él or ella hablara”, “nosotros habláramos”, “vosotros hablarais” and “ellos hablaran”. Notice the written accent in “habláramos”.
