Giving Instructions and Advice

Learn spoken affirmative and negative commands for você and vocês in Brazilian Portuguese to give practical instructions, polite orders, and advice.

A candid photograph of two people, appearing Brazilian, engaged in conversation in a bustling, sunny outdoor market in Brazil. One person is leaning in slightly with an inquisitive expression, perhaps with a hand subtly raised or an open gesture, while the other person looks ready to repeat or clarify. The scene captures a moment of gentle conversational repair, with natural light and vibrant colours, composed for a 3:2 landscape frame.

Lesson#1
To give instructions, offer practical advice, or tell someone what to do in Brazilian Portuguese, you use command forms. In everyday speech, these commands are used with 'você' for one person and 'vocês' for a group. You will learn how to form affirmative commands and negative warnings across regular and irregular verbs.
Lesson#2
To give an instruction to one person with regular verbs ending in A R, replace the A R with an E. For example, 'falar' becomes 'fale', and 'entrar' becomes 'entre'. 'Por favor, entre' means 'Please, come in'.
Quiz#3
Speaking to one person, translate into Portuguese: 'Speak to the doctor.'

Fale com o médico
