Lesson#1
In Dutch, words like 'deze', 'die', 'dit', and 'dat' do not always need a noun after them. You can use them completely on their own to point things out, like saying 'this one' or 'that one'. In this deck, you will learn how to use these demonstratives independently as subjects and objects, and how to introduce people and things using 'dit zijn' and 'dat zijn'.
Lesson#2
To point out a previously mentioned 'de' noun, use 'deze' for this one near you and 'die' for that one further away. They stand alone without repeating the noun. For example, 'Deze is mooier' means 'This one is nicer', and 'Die is goedkoper' means 'That one is cheaper'.
Quiz#3
Referring to a de-word, how do you say 'This one is nicer' in Dutch?

Deze is mooier

Quiz#4
Referring to a de-word, translate into Dutch: 'That one is cheaper.'

Die is goedkoper

Quiz#5
Referring to de-words, translate into Dutch: 'I will take this one, because that one is cheaper.'

Ik neem deze, want die is goedkoper

Lesson#6
You can also use 'deze' and 'die' on their own as the direct object of a sentence. In spoken Dutch, the demonstrative often comes first for emphasis. For example, 'Die vind ik mooi' means 'I like that one', and 'Ik neem deze' means 'I will take this one'.
