Lesson#1
In this deck, you will learn how to introduce yourself and get to know others in Dutch. You will master asking and answering questions about names, where people come from, what languages they speak, and how old they are. These everyday conversational frames will bring together everything you have learned so far.
Lesson#2
To say what your name is, Dutch uses the verb 'heten', which means 'to be called'. You can say 'Ik heet', followed by your name. Another common way to introduce yourself is 'Mijn naam is'.

Translate into Dutch: 'I am called Peter.'

Lesson#5
To ask someone their name in an informal setting, say 'Hoe heet je?'. Notice that 'heet' drops the final T because 'je' follows the verb. When you need to speak formally, ask 'Hoe heet u?'.
