Habitual Motion Verbs: ходить and ездить

Learn to use the multidirectional Russian verbs ходить and ездить to describe regular, habitual, and round-trip journeys.

A dynamic close-up photograph of a person's legs and feet, mid-stride, as they walk briskly along a wet, reflective cobblestone street in a historic Russian city. The rhythmic motion is subtly blurred, with hints of ornate, traditional Russian architecture visible in the softly blurred background. Dramatic, moody light with deep shadows, composed for a 3:2 landscape frame.

Lesson#1
In Russian, the verbs you choose for moving around depend on how you travel and how often. You already know how to talk about journeys happening right now in one direction. In this deck, you will learn the verbs 'ходить' and 'ездить', which describe regular, habitual, and round-trip journeys.
Lesson#2
The verb 'ходить' means to go on foot regularly, repeatedly, or on a round trip. For 'I', the consonant changes, giving the form 'хожу'. 'Пешком' means on foot. For example, 'Я каждый день хожу в школу пешком' means 'I walk to school every day on foot'.
