Lesson#1
You've learned about direct and indirect object pronouns. Now, let's focus on the most important skill: choosing the right one in conversation. The key is to know which verbs take a direct object and which need the preposition 'à' before a person.
Lesson#2
Remember, direct object pronouns like 'le', 'la', and 'les' replace a person or thing that directly receives the action. Indirect pronouns like 'lui' and 'leur' replace 'à' plus a person. If you can ask 'to whom?', you'll probably need an indirect pronoun.
Lesson#3
Let's start with a classic contrast. To look at someone is 'regarder quelqu'un'. There's no 'à', so it's direct. For example, 'I look at him' becomes 'Je le regarde'. But to speak to someone is 'parler à quelqu'un'. Because of the 'à', it's indirect. 'I speak to him' becomes 'Je lui parle'.
Quiz#4
Translate into French: I'm looking at him.

Je le regarde.

Quiz#5
Translate into French: I’m responding to him.

Je lui réponds.

Quiz#6
Translate into French: She is looking at her.

Elle la regarde.
