A charming, sun-drenched street scene in a picturesque French village, composed for a 3:2 landscape. In the foreground, a small outdoor cafe table with a book resting on it and a glass of water nearby. Further down the cobblestone street, a vintage French car is parked next to an old stone house, with a woman and a boy walking past, all bathed in warm afternoon light.

Lesson#1
In French, just like in English, we use small words called articles before nouns. These are words like 'the', 'a', or 'an'. In French, the article you choose depends on whether the noun is masculine or feminine, and singular or plural. In this deck, we'll learn the six basic articles you need for everyday conversation.
Lesson#2
Let's start with definite articles, which mean 'the'. For a singular noun that is masculine, you use 'le'. For example, 'livre', meaning book, is a masculine noun. So, 'the book' is 'le livre'.
Quiz#3
Translate into French: 'the book'.

le livre

Quiz#4
Translate into French: 'the boy'.

le garçon

Lesson#5
For a singular noun that is feminine, you use the article 'la' for 'the'. For example, 'maison', meaning house, is feminine. So, 'the house' is 'la maison'.
Quiz#6
Translate into French: 'the house'.

la maison
