In this deck, we'll explore sense organs, focusing on the eye. Sense organs contain groups of specialised cells called receptor cells. These cells respond to specific changes in the environment, known as stimuli, such as light, sound, touch, temperature, and chemicals.

Let's follow the path of light as it enters the eye. The first structure it passes through is the cornea, a transparent layer at the front. The cornea's main job is to bend, or refract, the light, which is the first step in focusing it.

After the cornea, light passes through an opening called the pupil. The size of this pupil is controlled by the iris, the coloured part of your eye. The iris can change the pupil's size to control how much light enters.
