Lesson#1
Welcome to this deck on Islamic Beliefs and Teachings for AQA GCSE Religious Studies. We will cover all the core beliefs you need to know for your exam. This includes the key beliefs of both Sunni and Shi'a Muslims, the nature of God, the role of prophets, and what Muslims believe about life after death. By the end, you'll be able to explain these ideas clearly and use them to build excellent exam answers.
Lesson#2
First, it's essential to understand that Islam has two main branches: Sunni and Shi'a. While they share the most fundamental beliefs, there are important differences that you need to be able to explain. For your GCSE, you will often be asked to compare their views, so we will highlight these differences throughout the deck.
Lesson#3
Let's begin with Sunni Islam, which is the larger of the two branches. The core beliefs for Sunni Muslims are summarised in the Six Articles of Faith. These are six key things a Sunni Muslim must believe in. They are: Tawhid, which is the belief in one God; Angels; Holy Books; Prophets; the Day of Judgement; and Predestination.
