This deck covers one of the most important processes on Earth: photosynthesis. This is how plants make their own food. For your exam, you need to know the definition: photosynthesis is the process that produces carbohydrates from carbon dioxide and water, using energy from light.

The overall process of photosynthesis can be summarised in a simple word equation. The raw materials, or reactants, are carbon dioxide and water. The products are glucose, which is a type of carbohydrate, and oxygen. So, the equation is: carbon dioxide plus water, reacts to produce glucose plus oxygen.
