The three themes are: Theme 1, 'Identity and culture'; Theme 2, 'Local, national, international and global areas of interest'; and Theme 3, 'Current and future study and employment'.

Your final grade is determined by four exams, each testing a different language skill. These are often called the four papers. Each paper is worth exactly the same amount: twenty-five percent of your total GCSE grade.
