A wide shot of two people walking along a winding path deep within a dense, sun-dappled Russian forest, with tall birch trees and pine trees creating a natural canopy. Soft, golden light filters through the leaves, casting long shadows on the forest floor, composed for a 3:2 landscape.

Lesson#1
In Russian, most masculine nouns take the ending Е in the Prepositional case to show location. However, a small group of high-frequency masculine nouns take a special stressed ending with the letter У when answering where something is. In this deck, you will learn to use these stressed locative endings with five essential everyday places.
Lesson#2
The Russian noun for garden is 'сад'. When stating that someone or something is in the garden, it does not take the regular ending, but ends in a stressed У: 'в саду'. For example, to say that children are playing in the garden, you say 'Дети играют в саду'.
Quiz#3
Translate into Russian: 'The children are playing in the garden.'

Дети играют в саду

Lesson#4
The Russian noun for forest or woods is 'лес'. To state that an activity takes place in the forest, use the preposition 'В' followed by the stressed ending У: 'в лесу'. For example, 'Мы гуляем в лесу' means 'We are walking in the forest'.
Quiz#5
How do you say 'We are walking in the forest' in Russian?

Мы гуляем в лесу

Lesson#6
The Russian word for floor is 'пол'. Because objects rest on the surface of a floor, you use the preposition 'на' with the stressed ending У: 'на полу'. For example, 'Книга лежит на полу' means 'The book is lying on the floor'.
