To express the purpose of an action in Spanish, the structure you use depends on the subject. When the person doing both actions is the same, you use 'para' followed by an infinitive. For example, 'Estudio para aprender' means 'I study to learn'.

However, when the subject of the main action is different from the subject of the purpose clause, you must use 'para que' followed by the subjunctive. For example, 'Te lo digo para que lo sepas' means 'I'm telling you so that you know'.
