Talking About Places and Topics in the Plural

Learn how to use Russian Prepositional plural noun endings to talk about multiple locations and conversational topics.

A wide-angle photograph of a bustling street scene in a historic Russian city at golden hour. People are walking in various directions on the sidewalks, some approaching a grand building, others exiting a cafe, while cars and trams move along the street, arriving at stops and departing from intersections. The scene is full of dynamic movement and activity, lit by warm, soft light.

Lesson#1
Welcome to Russian A2 Part 1. By the end of this course, you will be able to speak about multiple people, places, and possessions with accurate case endings, describe people in rich detail, and navigate everyday Russian conversations with real confidence. You will stop translating word by word and start speaking in natural sentences that flow without hesitation. With Auracle, you build fluency by speaking aloud constantly and actively recalling words and grammatical patterns. Active recall strengthens memory and creates automatic speech habits. Auracle prompts you to review each phrase at the exact moment you need it, ensuring that what you learn stays locked in. Let's get started.
Lesson#2
In this deck, you will learn to talk about places and conversational topics in the plural using the Prepositional case. You already know how to describe being in a single city or on a single street. Now you will learn the plural endings that let you describe multiple locations and talk about groups of people.
Lesson#3
To describe locations in the plural with the preposition 'В', regular nouns with a hard consonant ending take the ending А Х. For example, 'город' becomes 'в городах', meaning 'in cities'. The same ending applies to 'магазин', which becomes 'в магазинах'.
Quiz#4
Translate into Russian: 'We live in cities.'

Мы живём в городах

Quiz#5
Translate into Russian: 'There is everything in shops.'

В магазинах есть всё

Lesson#6
The ending А Х also applies to other hard-stem nouns regardless of gender. For example, 'дом' becomes 'в домах', meaning 'in houses', and the feminine noun 'школа' drops its final vowel to become 'в школах', meaning 'in schools'.
