A close-up photograph of a grand, ornate wooden double door on a historic Russian building; one door is slightly ajar, revealing a sliver of warm, inviting light from within, while the other is firmly closed, casting a deep shadow. The intricate carvings and weathered texture of the wood are sharply in focus, captured at eye level with dramatic side lighting.

Lesson#1
In Russian, words that describe whether a place is open, a seat is free, or someone is busy change their endings depending on gender and number. In the present tense, Russian does not use a word for 'is' or 'are'. You simply place the descriptive word directly after the subject.
Lesson#2
To say a masculine noun is open, use 'открыт'. For example, 'Магазин открыт' means 'The shop is open'.
Quiz#3
Translate into Russian: 'The shop is open.'

Магазин открыт

For a feminine noun, the word for open is 'открыта'. For example, 'Аптека открыта' means 'The pharmacy is open'.
Quiz#5

Аптека открыта

Lesson#6
For a neuter noun, the form for open is 'открыто'. For example, 'Окно открыто' means 'The window is open'.
