Lesson#1
In this deck, you will learn three essential Russian verbs: 'мочь', meaning can or to be able to; 'хотеть', meaning to want; and 'брать', meaning to take. You will master their present-tense conjugations and learn to combine them with other verbs to express ability and desire.
Lesson#2
The verb 'мочь' expresses ability or possibility. For 'I can', the form is 'могу', ending with a hard 'G' sound. For example, 'Я могу читать' means 'I can read'.
Quiz#3
Translate into Russian: 'I can read.'

Я могу читать

Lesson#4
When speaking to a friend, the 'you' form of 'мочь' changes consonant to a soft 'zh' sound, giving 'можешь'. For example, to ask a friend if they can work, say: 'Ты можешь работать?'.
Quiz#5
Speaking to a friend, translate into Russian: 'Can you work?'

Ты можешь работать?

Lesson#6
For 'he' or 'she can', the form is 'может'. To express inability, place the negative particle 'не' directly before the verb. For example, 'Он не может работать' means 'He cannot work'.
