Lesson#1
You already know how to talk about the past with 'was' and 'had'. Now you will learn how to describe past events using regular action verbs in Dutch, such as working, living, and cycling. This lets you tell stories and talk about routines in the past.
Lesson#2
To form the simple past for a singular subject, Dutch adds either T E or D E to the verb stem. If the stem ends in a voiceless consonant like T, K, F, S, or P, add T E. For the verb 'werken', the stem is 'werk', which ends in K, so the past form is 'werkte'.
Quiz#3
Translate into Dutch: 'Yesterday he worked the whole day.'

Gisteren werkte hij de hele dag

Quiz#4
Translate into Dutch: 'I worked at the office.'

Ik werkte op kantoor

Lesson#5
For plural subjects like we or they, Dutch adds an N to the singular ending, giving T E N. For 'werken', the plural past form is 'werkten'. For example, 'Wij werkten tot laat op kantoor' means 'We worked until late at the office'.
Quiz#6
Translate into Dutch: 'We worked until late at the office.'

Wij werkten tot laat op kantoor
