So far, you've used the passé composé to talk about specific, completed events in the past. Now, we'll learn a different past tense called the 'imparfait'. The imparfait doesn't talk about what happened, but what was happening. It's used to set the scene, describe backgrounds, and talk about past habits.
Lesson#2
Think of the imparfait as the 'was' or 'were' tense, or for things you 'used to do'. It paints the picture for your story. For example, 'It was raining' or 'I was tired'. Let's start with some of the most common and useful forms.
Lesson#3
To describe how something was in the past, you can use 'c'était', which means 'it was'. For example, if you're talking about a party, you could say 'C'était super !', meaning 'It was great!'.
