Welcome to the deck on Energy Management. This is an optional topic in Paper 2 of your AQA GCSE Geography exam, so it's important to check with your teacher that this is one your school has chosen to study. In this deck, we'll explore where the world gets its energy, why some places have more than others, and the challenges this creates.

Let's start with global energy patterns. Energy consumption, which is the amount of energy used, is not spread evenly across the world. Generally, High-Income Countries, or HICs, use far more energy per person than Low-Income Countries, or LICs. As Newly Emerging Economies, or NEEs, develop, their energy consumption is rising rapidly.

Energy supply is also unevenly distributed. Fossil fuels like coal, oil, and gas, which form the largest part of the global energy mix, are found in specific geological locations. This means some countries have vast reserves, while others have almost none. For example, the Middle East has huge oil reserves, while a country like Japan has very few fossil fuel resources.
