Let's start with pronunciation. The German alphabet is very similar to the English one, but some letters and combinations have unique sounds. We'll go through the most important ones, starting with the vowels.

The German vowel 'A' is usually a short, open sound, like the 'a' in 'father'. For example, in the word 'aber', meaning 'but'.
