In this deck, we'll learn how to talk about the past in German using the perfect tense. This is the most common way to talk about past events in spoken German, so it's incredibly useful. We'll cover how to form it, which helping verb to use, and how to build full sentences.

The perfect tense has two parts: a helping verb, also called an auxiliary verb, and a past participle. The structure is similar to saying 'I have played' in English. The helping verb is either 'haben', meaning to have, or 'sein', meaning to be. Let's start with 'haben'.
