Multicellular organisms, like humans, have a hierarchical structure. The simplest level is the cell. Groups of similar cells that perform a specific function are called tissues. Different tissues then work together to form an organ, like the stomach or the heart. Finally, groups of organs work together in an organ system, such as the digestive system, to perform a major role in the body.
