To carry out this investigation, you need to build a specific series circuit. It contains a power supply, an ammeter, and the length of resistance wire. A voltmeter is then connected in parallel across the resistance wire. The ammeter measures the current flowing through the wire, and the voltmeter measures the potential difference across it. Drawing this circuit diagram is a key skill, so we recommend you practise this on paper.
