In this deck, we'll explore the internal world of plants. You'll learn about the different tissues that make up a plant, such as the epidermis, palisade, and spongy mesophyll. We'll then look at how a leaf is perfectly structured for its job of photosynthesis. Finally, we'll cover the two vital transport systems in plants: transpiration, which moves water, and translocation, which moves food.

Just like animals, plants are made of tissues, which are groups of similar cells working together. In a leaf, you'll find several key tissues. The epidermal tissue forms a protective outer layer. Inside the leaf, the palisade mesophyll tissue is the main site of photosynthesis, packed with chloroplasts to capture sunlight. Below that, the spongy mesophyll tissue has lots of air spaces, which is crucial for gas exchange.
