First, let's talk about factors. A factor is a whole number that divides exactly into another whole number, leaving no remainder. For example, the factors of 12 are one, two, three, four, six, and twelve. Each of these numbers divides into 12 perfectly.

Next up are multiples. A multiple of a number is what you get when you multiply it by another whole number. Think of them as the numbers in a times table. For example, the multiples of three are three, six, nine, twelve, and so on.
