In this deck, we'll learn how to solve quadratic inequalities. Unlike quadratic equations that usually have two specific solutions, quadratic inequalities ask for a whole range of values that satisfy the condition.
Lesson#2
The first step in solving any quadratic inequality is to find the 'critical values'. To do this, you temporarily replace the inequality sign with an equals sign and solve the quadratic equation as you normally would.

These critical values are the boundaries of your solution. The next step is to sketch the graph of the quadratic to see what's happening on either side of these boundaries.

The shape of the graph is key. As a reminder, if the x-squared term in the quadratic is positive, the graph is a U-shape. If the x-squared term is negative, it's an n-shape.
