In German, every noun has a grammatical gender. It can be masculine, feminine, or neuter. You can tell the gender by the word for 'the' that comes before it. For masculine nouns, we use 'der'. For feminine nouns, we use 'die'. And for neuter nouns, we use 'das'. It's very important to learn the gender with every new noun.
