In this deck, we'll explore the particle model of matter, which helps us understand the properties of solids, liquids and gases. We'll also define and calculate density, and look at what happens to particles during changes of state like melting and boiling.
Lesson#2
Everything is made of tiny particles. The way these particles are arranged and how they move determines whether a substance is a solid, a liquid, or a gas. This is known as the particle model.
Lesson#3
In a solid, the particles are arranged in a fixed, regular pattern. They are packed very close together and are held in place by strong forces of attraction. Because of this, they can't move from place to place, but they do vibrate on the spot.
