This course prepares you fully for the AQA GCSE Religious Studies A (8062) examination on Buddhism, covering Component 1: The Study of Religions — Beliefs, Teachings and Practices. It is organised into two decks matching the exact specification topic titles: Deck 1: Key Beliefs and Deck 2: Practices. Every item on the AQA specification is covered — nothing is omitted. By completing this course, you will have precise factual knowledge of all key Buddhist beliefs, teachings, practices, festivals, ethical principles and differences between Theravada and Mahayana traditions. You will also have memorised the key quotations examiners expect to see in 4-mark, 5-mark and 12-mark answers, and you will know how to use them as evidence. If you work through every card in both decks, you will be very well prepared to achieve a high grade in this unit. Important study advice: the AQA exam includes 1-mark, 4-mark, 5-mark and 12-mark questions. The 12-mark questions require you to construct a balanced argument with evidence from Buddhist teachings on both sides. Make sure you practise writing full exam answers using past papers alongside this course — retrieval practice alone is not enough. Your teacher will confirm which component and which religion you are being examined on; this course covers the Buddhism option only.
